GENERAL INFORMATION EUREF 2014 Symposium
Vilnius, Lithuania

Date. June 3-7, 2014

Venue. The Symposium will take place at Holiday Inn Vilnius Hotel (Address: Seimyniskiu str. 1, Vilnius, Lithuania). Venue is in the convenient location adjacent to the city's commercial hub and atmospheric Old Town.

Official Language. The official Symposium language is English. No translation will be provided.

Visa and Invitation Letter. All foreign visitors entering Lithuania must have a valid passport or identification card. For some countries a visa is required. Information on the visa requirements and the location of embassies can be found on the website of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For all inquiries and invitation letters for visa, please contact the Symposium Secretariat. Please ensure you apply for a visa well in advance of your journey.

Climate. Lithuania has a typical Central European climate. June is usually warm in Vilnius. It is a good idea to bring a jacket for a cool evening and an umbrella.

Time. Eastern Europe Summer time is 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.

Currency. The official currency in Lithuania is Litas. Litas is fixed to Euro at the rate of 1 EUR = 3.4528 LTL. Currency can be exchanged at the airport, banks and at the hotels.

Credit Cards. Visa and MasterCard are accepted in most shops, hotels and restaurants. You will find an ATM on nearly every corner.

Electricity. Electricity in Lithuania is 230 Volts, alternating at 50 cycles per second. Plugs are European standard with two round pins.

Opening Hours.
Post Office: 07:00 – 19:00 - Monday – Friday; 09:00 – 16:00 - Saturday.
Banks: 08:00 – 17:00 - Monday – Friday in the city centre & 10:00 – 22:00 in the shopping centres.
Shops: food 08:00 – 22:00 (Monday – Sunday); others 10:00 – 22.00 (Monday – Sunday).

All participants are reminded that neither the Organizing Committee nor the technical organizer ViaConventus are liable for any losses, accidents or damage done to persons or private property. Participants and accompanying persons are requested to make their own arrangements in respect of health and travel insurance.
