NATIONAL LAND SERVICE INTERESTED IN THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE INVESTMENT CLIMATE IN LITHUANIA

On the 30th of May, on the initiative of the National Land Service a roundable meeting took place to discuss investment issues in Lithuania. The participants of the meeting were NLS administration and executives and Investors‘ Forum Association, which comprises the largest and the majority investors into the Lithuanian economy. The major topic of the meeting was developing of more effcient cooperation between the public and private sector, in order to ensure a more favourable business environment for foreign investors in the country.

During the discussion, the major problems of the investors and their needs were expressed as well as proposals for the application of different practices in working with investment projects were identified.

"It is important for us to create conditions for efficient use of state land in the development of business and investing in this country. This meeting was particularly useful because we heard a lot of problems and suggestions about what we could do otherwise or better. As an institution, we are not only responsible for defending the public interest. It is important for us to look for a balance and hear the needs and challenges of the private sector. We will organize such discussions in the future too, – says Laimonas Čiakas, Director of the National Land Service.

The most common issues that the investors are solving in cooperation with the NLS relate to the lease and privatization of state-owned land, construction projects, the establishment of exemptions and special land use conditions, development of communication and engineering infrastructure in state land, as well as land plot formation and cadastral data refinement
